You sign your fifth client, and TrueCoach Starter still fits your business. Then you sign client number six. Great news for your business. But your software bill has something else to say: it jumps from $29.98 to $69.98 a month.
And it happens again. You reach 20 active clients, sign one more, and suddenly you are in the Pro tier. Your monthly subscription jumps from $69.98 to $164.98.
One new client. A much bigger software bill.
That is why the number on TrueCoach’s pricing page only tells you part of the story. Your cost per client depends on how many spots you use within your tier. Using TrueCoach Payments adds fees based on the revenue you process.
So, before choosing a plan, there are two numbers worth checking: your active client count and your monthly payment volume.
Let’s start with your client count.
How Much Does TrueCoach Cost?
TrueCoach currently has three published plans for coaches with up to 50 active clients. Pricing is based on active clients, not every client profile you have ever created.
Annual prices are shown as monthly equivalents but require annual billing. All cost-per-client calculations in this article use month-to-month subscription prices. All prices are in USD. Pricing checked in October 2026; confirm current rates before subscribing.
TrueCoach also offers a 14-day free trial with no credit card required. If you coach more than 50 active clients, you need to contact TrueCoach for custom pricing.
Former clients do not necessarily push you into the next plan either. Archived clients stop counting toward your active-client limit. Their information stays in your account in case they return.
The easiest way to picture the pricing is as a row of client spots:
Starter: 5 spots | Standard: 20 spots | Pro: 50 spots
You pay for the row. How many of those spots you fill determines what the software really costs you per active client.
What Does TrueCoach Actually Cost Per Client?
Two coaches can pay the same $164.98 a month for Pro and get a very different value from it. One may have 21 active clients, while another has 50.

Here is how the cost per active client changes as you fill each TrueCoach plan:
Cost per client is calculated using TrueCoach’s current month-to-month plan prices.
Picture the Standard plan as 20 available client spots:
6 active clients
■■■■■■□□□□□□□□□□□□□□
6 of 20 spots filled → $11.66/client
20 active clients
■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■
20 of 20 spots filled → $3.50/client
A coach on r/personaltraining described building a spreadsheet to compare coaching platforms because “pricing models matter more as you scale.”
With TrueCoach, value depends on how much of your plan’s client capacity you use, not just its price.
Why Your 6th and 21st Clients Change the Math
TrueCoach keeps your subscription price fixed until you cross a client limit. That makes 6 and 21 the two client numbers to watch.
At six clients, your subscription increases by $40 a month. You can now manage up to 20 active clients without another plan change.
The bigger jump comes at 21 clients. Your subscription moves from $69.98 to $164.98 a month, giving you capacity for up to 50 clients. So your 21st client does not cost $95. You are paying $95 more for a larger client tier.
If you expect to grow toward 30 or 40 clients, you may use that extra capacity fairly quickly. If you stay around 21 or 22 clients, you will pay for spots you are not using yet.

This shows up in coach reviews too. One Capterra reviewer managing around 25 clients said their price more than doubled after crossing 20 clients, although they still felt the time TrueCoach saved made the cost worthwhile. Another reviewer reconsidered adding five more group-training clients. Those additions would require moving to the 50-client tier at a higher price.
Before you cross a plan limit, ask:
How many clients do I have now → how many do I realistically expect in the next few months → which TrueCoach tier will that put me in?
Client count determines your subscription tier. But it is not the only number that can change your TrueCoach bill.
If you use TrueCoach Payments, the amount you pay also changes with the revenue you process.
How Much Does TrueCoach Payments Add to Your Cost?
There can be another cost if you also use the platform to collect money from your clients.
TrueCoach Payments charges 5% of each successful card transaction, calculated on the invoice total, including tax.
The calculation is simple:
Monthly payments collected through TrueCoach × 5% = processing fee
Say your clients pay you a total of $5,000 this month. TrueCoach’s 5% processing fee would be $250, leaving you with $4,750 before your other business costs.

If you collect $10,000, the processing fee becomes $500, leaving you with $9,500 before other business costs. Your subscription plan may not have changed at all, but you are now paying twice as much in processing fees because you processed twice as much revenue.
Here is how the same 5% works at different monthly payment volumes:
So, as your team grows, track your total client roster rather than the number of clients managed by each coach.
A higher plan cost is not necessarily a loss. If those additional clients are paying clients, revenue is growing too. At $200 per client, for example, 20 clients generate $4,000/month while 50 generate $10,000/month. Over the same range, the published subscription price just moves from $69.98 to $164.98.
How Does TrueCoach Pricing Compare With FitBudd and Other Coaching Platforms?
TrueCoach is not the only platform that charges more as your coaching business grows. The difference is how each platform increases the price.
Here is how TrueCoach compares with FitBudd, ABC Trainerize, and Everfit at common client counts:
Prices are based on currently published monthly pricing. Optional features, add-ons, annual discounts, and payment-processing costs can change the final amount.
TrueCoach vs FitBudd: Tier Jumps vs Per-Client Growth
The biggest pricing difference appears once you move beyond 20 clients. TrueCoach moves from its 20-client Standard plan to a Pro plan that gives you capacity for up to 50 clients.
FitBudd takes a different approach. Its Pro plan includes 20 clients, after which the subscription increases by $2 for each additional client. You do not have to move immediately from a 20-client allowance to a 50-client allowance.
Payment fees also reduce what you keep from each client payment. TrueCoach Payments deducts 5% from each successful card payment. FitBudd does not charge its own transaction fee. Your connected payment provider, such as Stripe or PayPal, still charges its standard processing fee.
Pricing is only one part of the comparison. For differences in programming, nutrition, payments, branding, client management, and other tools, read TrueCoach vs FitBudd: A Detailed Comparison.
ABC Trainerize: Capacity Tiers With Optional Add-Ons
ABC Trainerize also uses client tiers, but the breakpoints are different from TrueCoach. There is no 20-client option. If you coach 20 clients, you need the 30-client plan at $79/month, which means paying for capacity you are not yet using.
Some features can also require paid add-ons depending on your plan. So check both the client tier you need and whether the features you want are included.
Everfit: More Client Tiers as Your Roster Grows
Everfit offers more intermediate client tiers, including 5, 10, 20, 35 and 50 clients. A coach moving beyond 20 clients can therefore move to a 35-client tier instead of immediately paying for capacity up to 50.
That makes the jump between plans smaller than TrueCoach's move from 20 directly to 50-client capacity.

Which Pricing Model Fits Your Coaching Business?
There is no useful answer based on starting price alone. Before choosing, consider:
- How many clients do you manage now, and how quickly could that change?
- What happens to the subscription when your roster grows?
- Are there payment or transaction fees on top of the subscription?
- Which features do you actually need? Programming, nutrition, habit tracking, automations, branding and team management can change which plan makes sense.
- Will you add coaches later? Team and client limits can change the economics again.
If TrueCoach's pricing structure does not match the way you expect to grow, you can also compare the broader options in Best TrueCoach Alternatives.
The useful comparison is not simply which platform starts cheapest. It is which pricing model gives you the clients, features, and room to grow that your coaching business actually needs.
