Step 1: Practise Yoga

Yoga is a powerful tool that can help people find peace and relaxation in their lives. It's essential to have the proper training before you teach yoga, so make sure your skills match up well with what locals expect from an instructor.

Yoga is an ancient practice. Thus, there are many different styles of yoga. Each technique may appeal to different people.

Before starting your journey into becoming instructor-level qualified, there were solid foundations about what kind/style suited best to your tastes.

These can be gentle, neutrally posed positions designed mainly to emphasize balancing techniques over movement or Bikram yoga, where practitioners wear heated outfits. At the same time, they exercise on their mats, so it feels like you're doing variations between sun salutations!

Step 2: Enroll in Yoga Instructor Training Program

Becoming a certified yoga instructor can vary depending on where you live and what type of certification interests you. The primary certifying body for yoga instructors in the United States is the Yoga Alliance. So be sure to enroll in a yoga school that meets the Yoga Alliance’s requirements.

You can learn more about this ancient healing art with two levels of instructor training. The first level certification program lasts 200 hours, while 500-hour yoga specialist certificates provide even more significant progress, including teaching new students how to use these techniques properly.

The critical difference between these types may seem minor. Still, there are significant differences when considering what kind would best suit someone’s needs depending upon if they want/need additional guidance with certain poses.

These programs are typically offered at yoga studios or retreat centers and can last from a few weeks to several months. During your training, you’ll learn about different aspects of yoga, including anatomy, physiology, and philosophy. You'll also get plenty of opportunities to practice teaching classes to hone your skills before heading out into the real world.

Step 3: Register as RYT

Once you've completed your training program, you'll be eligible to register with the Yoga Alliance or National Yoga Alliance as a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT).

You will have to pay a $50 registration fee and your yearly dues of $65. You may upgrade your yoga instructor certification to the RCYT and RPYT specialty designations for an extra $50 application fee.

You can start teaching classes at studios, gyms, or private homes. All yoga instructors may not need a certification, but it gives you an edge over competitors and opens up a wide range of opportunities.

Some benefits of having your RYT certification are:

  • A certificate that is recognized all across the world
  • You'll have access to free online sessions to keep your training up-to-date.
  • Inclusion in the RYT Directory provides you with a public profile that you may share to promote yourself.
  • Invitations to community activities in the region connected to your niche.
  • Subscriptions include access to informative yoga-related periodicals and discounts on yoga-related items and services such as clothes, insurance, and business software.

Step 4: Start Teaching Yoga

You are now ready to start teaching your yoga classes. You may begin by giving sessions and programs for friends, family members, or other network connections in your neighborhood and any local fitness facilities like gyms that will be open during regular business hours (or at night).

Establishing your business publicly is essential, so charge a fee when hosting these events - but don't forget about offering complimentary classes too!

You can invest in a website for your business to attract more clients.
